The Last One

Due to the recent catastrophe down in the IT lab, I have decided to make this post (the 8th post) the very last one.

I am going to leave the subject up to you! You can write on whatever you want, just as long as its at least 1/2 a page.

I hope you enjoyed blogging!

Cheers
Mr Franco :)

  1. The... Last... Post!

I have decided to do "PlayStation 3 Vs Xbox 360"for my subject due to the fact that I could argue all day about the two (Mainly PlayStation because I own one and love them) but when it comes down to it, an Xbox 360 is pretty good value for the money. I mean when the PlayStation 3 first came out you had to pay an arm and a leg to get one! The Xbox on the other side was easy affordable. They started to become so popular that Microsoft ran out of Xbox 360s to sell due to the fact that they were wanted in such high demand that Microsoft didn't really take much care in the making of them, thus leading to the dreaded "Ring of Death" Now the PlayStation 3 has never had any problems like this. When you think about it the reason you pay so much is because you are paying for quality (And a Blu-ray disc drive). When the PlayStation 3 first came out it cost about $430 US, Which at the time was almost $1000 AUS! Now that's a lot to pay for something that only has 20 - 60 GB of memory, but it was back words compatible unlike to second generation PS3, which was not but had a 80 - 160 GB hard drive which as you tell is more them double! The PlayStation 3 also had HDMI! This was another thing that the Xbox did not have (Until September 2007, And i must note that this date is after the PS3 was released. This caused people to thing that Microsoft had actually stolen the idea from Sony) The HDMI aloud people to play games at the highest quality. The HDMI is also needed to show off the awesome graphic that the Blu-Ray disks provide. It took Sony almost three years to bring out the PlayStation 3 Slim. Now this comes standard with a 150 GB hard drive and only cost $589 AUS. They brought this "Slimmer" PlayStation out to try and combat the Xbox 360. One thing though that Microsoft did and Sony didn't was make an Elite console, One that was basically overclocked. This console rivaled the PlayStation 3, The only thing wrong with it was that it didn't have Blu-Ray technology. Now imagine if PlayStation had done this, It would be a Marvell for the gaming world. The only problem would have been the cost. Many believe that if such a console was made it would cost any where between $1000 - $2500 AUS. Now I don't think many people would like to fork that out the wallets, when you could buy a brilliant gaming PC for just a few hundred more. And now for the last thing i want to talk about on this topic is the games. The Xbox 360 has a unique list of games that are basically made for the Xbox's online gaming. The most well known is the Halo series. Playstation on the other hand has nothing of the sort. Yes they may have Killzone and metal gear solid ("Guns of the Patriots" being the only one of PlayStation 3) but they lac the online prospect that the Xbox games posses.

I hope this argument continues you be fort and I hope that people keep adding on to this post (Its a good idea if you cant think of anything else to talk about)

  2. well i am going to keep on the same theme as the person before
i think that they both are as bad as each other both of them have very violent games and they are not good for Christian people,i mean i have a PS3 n i struggle to find a good game with out all of the violence and shooting and things like that. and don't get me started on x box 360 nearly all of there games are either violent or shooting or something bad like that,
but if i had to choose i would pick the PS3 over the x box. but i think that people need to start making games that are suitable for people who don't like all of the shooting and violence don't. like

  3. Today, im leaving a question with you...

What are your thoughts on technology? Do you really think its necessary that we have all this technology available to us today? Think back to when technology was not around, look at how things use to work. The question is, has it made people more lazy in our world today or helped tremendously in everything we do?

Here are my views, technology has become a great accessory to our lives, it's used for basically everything now. Think about it, what would you do without your mobile phone, you wouldn't be able to send someone that message you want them to know about without actually seeing them. That is hard just thinking about it.

Technology is advancing very rapidly today, this could be a good sign or a bad sign, the reason being for this is because eventually technology will become so close to our lives that it will be doing everything for us. This will lead to laziness and other problems. Would you want things to head that way? I certainly don't. Yes technology has been brought to a stage where it is helpful and reliable for a persons needs. But is it really that necessary that we have more technology is our lives? There is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is your own opinion.

Have a deep think about it, because the world today seems to be heading down a path of technology increase.

    1. Yo Mama so fat, I ran around her twice and got lost.

    2. Yo Mama so ugly, Yo daddy tosses the ugly stick and she fetches it every time.

    3. Yo Mama so short, she has to get a running start to get up on the toilet.

    4. Yo Momma so skinny, she turned sideways and disappeared.

    5. Yo Mama so stupid, she stopped at a stop sign and waited for it to say go.

    6. Yo Mama so poor, she went to McDonald's and put a milkshake on layaway.

    7. Yo Mama so old, she walked into an antique store and they kept her.

    8. Yo Mama so hairy, she looks like a Chia pet with a sweater on.

    9. Yo Mama so fat, I gotta take three steps back just to see all of her.

    10. Yo Mama so ugly, I took her to a haunted house and she came out with a job application.

  6. What is your ideal phone?

There are so many varieties out there now twist, touch and slide
Why do we need so much?
They play music, take photos, organise your life
Basically it is no longer a phone but a massive multi use device
    They're getting better and better
and are costing less and less
    Teenagers cannot live without them
and no one wants the cheap one with no features
They are an expendable device which means when
they break you just simply buy a new one
Most are free when you buy it on a cap and
you pay like 30 bucks every month for a fee and
    all done

  7. Today class i'd like to talk about scabby websites with weird font and no navigation menu that try to sell 18 page ebooks for a scabby price like 50 scabby dollars. Yes Julian i know what your up to with your false lame guarantees "theres no one better, you can trust me", pfft and the way you offer your free products worth 100 dollars!! NO WAY I DONT BELIEVE IT!! well its not true my friends the free product is really worth 100 rupiah (1 cent AUS) he told me. And plus, the ebook is second hand information he recieved from a conference on how to make money. weird i know. Julian if you read this im telling you now your ebook is a fraud, i bought it myself and im telling you stop selling them. They are a waste of customer's time and your own time. 8. ok.. question, hmmm? iPhones...
are they a waste of money or are they your money’s worth.. I just had an 'argument' with members of the class stating that the iPhone is a waste, irrelevant and just because having a ipod with a phone doesnt make it special since all phones previous can play songs and do the same functions as an ipod and can make phone calls.
Well i believe the iPhone is a breakthrough of technology and it is the best phone everyday people could get. It is like having a laptop in your hand with the same amount of speed and functions. You can basically do everything an average person would do on there laptop like checking your emails, sending emails, IM. I love the benefit of having an ipod with a mobile.
    The iphone has:
    - Fast internet
    - 3-megapixel autofocus camera
    - Video recording
    - Voice Control
    - Digital compass
    - Cut, Copy & Paste
    - MMS3
    - Spotlight Search
    - Landscape keyboard
    - Voice Memos
Internet Tethering Surf the web from practically anywhere. Now you can share the 3G connection on your iPhone with your Mac notebook or PC laptop.
Find My iPhone and Remote Wipe If you misplace your iPhone, Apple’s MobileMe service can help you find it. Log on to me.com to view a map that shows the approximate location of your iPhone. If it’s nearby, have it play an alert sound to help you find it. If it’s not, you can display a custom message, remotely lock it with a passcode, or initiate a remote wipe and restore it to factory settings
To tell you the truth i believe people that may hate or really thing the iphone is dodgy, crap etc are just plan mad they maybe cant afford to get one. In Australia you can see everyone emerging to use the Apple iphone as a device that is life changing. Everyone find it so convenient and functionable to have an iphone in there pocket.
The Apple iphone has ongoing update that continuously keeps the phone up to date. The iPhone is the BEST!!! hehee

I would continue this blog but i have to go to my next class.

  9. I’m enjoying this blog and I got to say that it has been interesting and different to have you Mr Franco for I.T.
Last year I had Mr Street (hopefully he doesn’t see this) for digital media and at the end of the semesters I got C/D for my grade. SUCKS!
but I think it was deserving though because I didn’t even learn anything in that year. It was really useless to be in that class…I thought it was easy and I can get good grades but I didn’t, which was disappointing. So this year being in another computer class but with a brand new teacher from America...which you Mr Franco, is cool! Plus you always try and make this class fun, even though next year (as you said) will be Boring and Hard work because it is TEE. But hopefully you can do something about that and help us change the ‘Hard Work’ to something we can all handle...
I find all the online questions fun and all but I don’t think it helps me in anyway because I don’t remember them and the online blog is cool…just gets the brain thinking and it’s a cool way to get marks and easy to just answer them online...
This year has been ok…better than I expected but hopefully next year…if it won’t be too hard…and I can do well. But I might drop it…to study module if theres too much on my shoulders.

  10. ahhh,, the last post but what to type about...

oh, i know...my caps button isn't working. neither is the backspace button and the 'm' key won't work until you stab it. you have no idea, how frustrating that is. i seriously can not until touch-screen keyboards, were the keys are not likely to stuck and become of no further use until somebody fixes it.

and it doesn't help that the caps key isn't working. it is just easier to use than the 'shift' key, because i lack coordination, big time. i can't press the shift key and the other key at the same time, it takes forever to get the correct capital letter up on the screen..

    and that why i don't like keyboards..=]

  11. What to write for the last blog, that is the question… Hmm, well seeming as we are approaching the last few weeks of our schooling lives (or at least us year 12s are), how bout I talk (or rant) about that. Quite honestly, school has seemed like a massive waste of time (or at least these last two years have). I think ten years of it is more than enough. It’s like, we already know most of what we need to by then, so what’s the point in enduring another two years of it, and ultimately not really learning anything new. I mean, I guess it helps kill some time, after all things may be a bit dull otherwise, but if you don’t plan on going to Uni or actually doing something useful with your life, then what’s the point? Sure I guess it has helped me work a good way through my IT Certs and I’ll be able to finish them off in a hope of getting a decent IT job, but other than that, it all seems to have been a massive waste of time. Now that the year is finally coming to an end, it’s becoming more evident these years which are supposedly meant to be “the best years of your life” have really just been quite pointless, but at least they’ve given me something to do so I guess it hasn’t been that bad. Well, all I can say now is… Bring on the holidays! (At least they are coming up soon enough.)

  12. Since we’re in an AIT class I’ll be talking about technology and how it’s impacted our world we live in nowadays. Has it been a good thing to society? Or is it something that has been the catalyst for the sinful society we live in today?

    Positives About Technology
    1. People are just a click away if you want to talk to them
    2. Globalisation became increasingly popular since deals were done through Skype, e-mail and other technological means
    3. Mobile phones revolutionised the way we live by people being able to call people whist being on the move (businesses benefited from this)
    4. Companies started to be more efficient as technology took over the man mad jobs such as bottle labellers
    5. Random chat rooms have resulted in couples meeting then ultimately getting married

    Negatives of Technology
    1. New crime became evident in our society such as serial hackers and virus creators
    2. With the recent terror attacks have involved mobile phone detonators. If mobile phones we’re created we wouldn’t have as many bombs going off
    3. Major energy sources have resulted from the increased demand of technology resulting in pollution
    4. Many people have become dependant on computers and technology. How many of us would survive without a mobile phone or computer? Resulting in our society at the mercy of technology
    5. Many jobs have been stripped from humans as a direct result in technology taking over their jobs such as lumberjacks and milkmen.

  13. The last blog...awesome
Well for my last blog I'm going to talk about why this year's class was better than last year.

Firstly, we had a horrible weird guy who looks a bit like a pedo called Mr Steel. He thinks he is so funny but he isn't plus he swears, gets paranoid and looks at wedding photos all the time.

Secondly, we just sat in front of the computer every single IT class giving us square and triangle eyes and back and neck pains.

Thirdly, unlike our class now, where there is time to have fun or talk, the old class just work as soon as you step in the class.

That's all I need to say about the old class last year and thank you Mr Franco for making this class so much better than last year.

  14. My focus on this last post is on games!
The reason i want to focus on games is because playing games is my hobby. Just recently i was banned of computer from monday morning to friday night. I was nearly in tears... i couldnt beleive what my parents said. It was kind of like a nightmare coming to life, but that was about a month ago. Now that i have gotten used to not playing games on weekdays i have changed my grades at school (no not from high to low, its from low to high). BUT... unfortunately all my favourite games ALWAYS are released on weekdays, so this means if i buy a game such as halo ODST (which comes out on the 22 september) i have to wait until its saturday to play it. So i just look at the case... maybe open it.. i dont know, what else do you do with a game that you cant play for 3 days??? I would probably beg my parents to play it for like maybe 30mins ATLEAST... but they would most likely say no. BUTTT now that i have gotten used to not playing it... i am going to wait until after my overseas holiday to get it. This should give me enough time to focus on the last week of the term. THEN I SHALL GET HALO ODST!!!!!! :D

  15. hahaha ethan good for you :)

hmm last post... this term flew past real fast i gotta say.

what do i have to say in this last post? Well firstly thank you mr. franco for making this class the most memorable IT class i've had in my TCC life so heres a big THANK YOU mr.franco

Well since its my last post, i suppose i'll talk about my "dream"? well my dream is to be a chef (when i was young). and as i grow older and got into this whole gaming thing.. i wanted to be a game designer in order to draft out the PERFECT game, a game that could satisfy allll gamers out there. its a wild dream. but i also want to be a chef at the same time. infact my ultimate dream is to own a HUGE restaurant that not only provide best food but at the same time deliver the customer to dine in a place packed of high technology equipments and giving them the best "restaurant dining" experience of their life.
Though there is a big problem, and its that being a chef and a game designer at the same time is impossible. Time just isnt enough. 24 hours is too little. :(

  16. well.... i might as well tell everyone about my two weeks (even if you know most of it).

to start things off, ive been worried out of my mind about everything, end of school comming up, tests, assignments, projects, all seem to be happening in these last two weeks. if thats not enough, the school itlab burned down so thats something else to worry about, i got sick over the weekend, some of my friends have been having troubling times (with relationships, not to go into any detail there) and, lets top it all off with a nice healthy dose of family issues and yea, not a very nice two weeks for me. atleast im going to adventure world on thursday whilst the rest of our class is stuck at school (^.=.^) and the holidays ARE next week so ill be zombying through to the late of nights blasting other zombies, germans, yanks and oter assorted bad-guys off my screen (:D) plus, hopefully my mates will have enough time to play with meh, its allright playing with randoms an all, but playin with your mates is just... better i guess. so eh, thats all ive got. hope you found this... interesting, even if its a wee bit dull and boring (>.=.>)

  17. XBOX 360 is better than PS3, the 360 may not have better graphics, but not as much game quality. The PS3 may have free multiplayer online but on 360nonly needs fees to pay for the servers and to make sure that you are not matched up against Asians with super fast computers and so hackers and such are kicked and BANNED. PS3 may have access to the internet where you can surf the web, BUT IT IS A GAMING STATION NOT A COMPUTER. Plus with the new project Natal coming out the PS3s popularity will dropped and therefore there will be less people online. Therefore the 360 is better than the PS3, and the PS3 will soon die out after Project Natal.

    ReplyDelete
  18. IT WILL DIE OUT FROM HALO ODST!!!! :D :D :D
ok... maybe i am over reacting a bit....

    ReplyDelete
  19. erm, just on what aaron said, its like the whole pc vs. mac thing, the only reason you use such a crappy system as the 360 is because it has a broader range of software. you use a ps3 for better quality, ease of access and one of the cheapest and best blue ray players on the market. 360 is old tech and cannot cope with the newer games that will come out, which will perform and look much better on a ps3. thus the ps3 will have a greater range of new games untilthe xbox 3 comes out which will suffer the same faults as the ps3 does now. so shut your yabber about the 360 being better aaron cuz it aint. Quality over Quantity for life!

  20. (This is Hill not hocking.. and I'm technologically challenged and can't change my silly name thing... sorry Mr Franco.)

I would also like to state before I start that I am in absolute awe of Rebekah’s magical keyboard skills… and henceforth dedicate this story to her:

Seeing as it is quite unlikely that I have anything of amazing importance or value to add to anyone’s knowledge bowl, I have decided to talk about the one thing that has been playing on my mind all day. Would you like to know what it is?... well too bad I’m going to tell you.

Two days ago it was Sunday night and like any good little Christian girl I went to the late night church service (Rebekah wasn’t there =0 =0 Heathen!). Whist I was on my merry way towards the church doors I looked up and saw in the distance a bright red glowing orb hovering in midair. I thought ‘What on earth could that be?”. Intrigued, I increased my pace to a steady canter and headed towards the glow. As I drew closer I suddenly realized that the brilliant hovering red or was in fact not hovering at all but was attached to a body. Confusion took over me as I looked at it’s metro-sexually well dressed body clad in a modest but ultimately awesome grey man-coat. As I peered in awe at the brilliant fashion of the shiney ball thing’s body, it finally clicked in my head that it was not a shining ball thing but rather a man. But where on earth was his face?... Finally, my short and little legs got me close enough to the intriguing figure to see that not only was it a man… it was the most red-headed man I had ever seen!

I was amazed! He had the same coloured hair and cut as Elliott except his hair was abounding with rays of brightness and glee. What’s so cool about that you ask? Well, not only did he have the most awesome ranga hair ever invented, he also had… a ranga beard!! And I’m not talking a little stubble, I mean a full, glorious ,well groomed Godfather beard! I could barely see his face, hence the aforementioned confusion…
Now as you can imagine, being the over expressive person I am, I slowed to a crawl as I walked past his awe inspiring hair, my mouth gaping wide as a stared at him. When he was out of sight I turned to my best friend Brittany and cried “DID YOU SEE THE LEPRECHAUN?!!!!!!” to which she just sighed and rolled her eyes at me saying “Typical Lauren”.

I know what you’re thinking, that’s pretty sweet right? But my story is not complete. To put the cherry on the top so to speak, the leprechaun man sat on my row in church! Hallelujah! Unfortunately none of my fellow youthies seemed to realise the greatimportance and amazing-ness of the situation at hand and the profound impact it will have on the rest of my life. Everyone I told either laughed at me or had the same reaction as Brittany. So I decided to find someone who would cared…

Unfortunately I couldn’t find one, so I had to settle for Rebekah.
    (I love you Bek! )

  21. For this open ended blog post I have decided to write about my adventures with lossless music. Lossless music is awesome. Basically, audio tracks on a CD are lossless, because they are the original format of the music. When ripping a CD, most will use the mp3 format because it sounds fine and saves space. For me, well, I can tell the difference between a 160kbps bitrate mp3 and a 320 (maximum for mp3) kbps bitrate mp3 (to those that say it is impossible to hear the difference, unless you have expensive sound equipment you won’t notice, and even then it depends on the type of music and content of the file). With Lossless music there is no limit on bitrate, it depends on the contents of the sound file. Most are around 1000-1200 kbps bitrate. When you rip a CD in WAV format (Microsoft wave) the file is Lossless, but isn’t intelligently compressed (e.g. parts of the track with no noise take up as much space as parts with sound of the same length) and does not support ID tags (Artist, Album etc.; only has title in a WAV). In response to this, FLAC was created. FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, and supports ID tags and compresses the music somewhat, by removing truly inaudible parts of the track intelligently. The point of Lossless is to have no quality loss and play files as if they were off the CD. As a result, lossless tracks can be up to 20mb in size on average for a 3-4 minute song. In my opinion, the sound quality is a good trade off for hard drive space, which is easy to come by nowadays. My problems arose when downloading a large number of Lossless tracks (40GB approximately) in FLAC format, while having iTunes as my preferred media player. I set about trying to add FLAC functionality to the iTunes program; no luck, unless you’re on a Mac and use a dodgy external program to “feed” iTunes the files. So I wondered, what type of Lossless audio does iTunes support. Turns out, Apple have developed their own lossless format in response to WAV and FLAC, called Apple Lossless Audio Codec, quite fittingly ALAC. Now I knew I wanted to convert my files, but there were HEAPS, and I was worried about converting Lossless music, scared that the only way to preserve the quality was to possibly burn the files to CDs and rip them back in ALAC, which would really take ages. I found after some searching though, that converting FLAC to ALAC only requires a direct stream copy much like when converting only the video of a video file, the audio is simply copied across and muxed into the new video file, with absolutely no loss of quality. So I found a program which converted the files and solved my other problem of converting 40GB of music taking too long as well. dBpoweramp is what I used, and it is multithreaded, meaning it can use both of my processors by running a separate conversion process on each, administered by a single process. The result was it would convert 2 files at a time and did all 40GB in under an hour. My mission was complete, I copied the new files into iTunes and spent over 6 hours renaming and properly defining the ID tags for each album using the internet and cover scans which I also downloaded. The reason for this was the only downside; some tracks’ ID tags barely survived the conversion process and came out as a crazy garble of symbols. It didn’t help that half the track names were in Japanese beforehand, my guess is dBpoweramp’s ALAC and FLAC plugins didn’t know how to handle the Japanese characters too well. So that’s my adventure, 40GB of music in Apple Lossless ALAC format in my iTunes, awww yeah.

  22. Well, well, well, the last one, it seems incredibly significant with all the events to come for all the year 12's. Thornlie has been my school for the past 11 years of my life and even though I’m really happy to be leaving and starting the new and exciting chapter in my life i cant help looking back on past events that are significant to me while i have been at TCC. year 2 started with a very excited small crazy orange haired child starting at her very first day of 'proper' school (I had been homeschooled for year one and as far as I’m concerned pre primary just doesn’t count) my teacher was Mrs. O'Sullivan and she was and still is a very kind hearted and lovely teacher, I don’t remember much but I’m pretty sure i had loads of fun. year 3 started with a bang with the up and coming Olympics which was to be in Sydney and a lot of activities that year were based on the Olympics Mrs. De Jaeger was our teacher and we still love her to bits she was fantastic. year 4 started and Mrs. Brownhill was the next teacher who was to be blessed with our lovely presence as we made a right ruckus in her class all year round, it was still fantastic and we have many fond memories from that year which will never be forgotten. Year 5 came along and Mrs. Loh was the lady who whipped us into line with every out trodden toe chopped and every attitude cut to fit it wasn’t long until we learned who was in charge, it was great we had fun with carful supervision. year 6 came and went with us remembering things from cat fights to cheerleading competitions with the year5/6's (we won of course) and time flew with Mr. Pitchford telling funny jokes all year long. well before we knew it we were in middle school and we felt small again, with loads of activities and fun to be had the year flew by us without a backward glance. yr 8 was filled with more new subjects and fun that we didn’t know what to do with ourselves, cooking and sewing were added to our curriculum and we were ecstatic, we soon found out that you have to be good at sewing to enjoy it, unfortunately none of us were. year 9 came with all of our emotions really coming to the surface and school was only there so we could socialise with friends, the whole year was pretty much a blur. High school we were excited for the first minute or two of our new classes and then we got handed all our new homework and suddenly our smiles disappeared along with all our free time. year 11 had been an exciting concept again but unfortunately we hadn’t leant from past experiences we found our workload growing and the pressure became apparent when we heard our grades from that year would help us in year 12 as well. the final year of our schooling education has crept upon so with stealth and speed and as much as I’m happy to be finishing i would like to say that my time at Thornlie has been at times rough and annoying but I mostly really enjoyable and I have made so many friends and memories along the way and they will not be forgotten no matter how much time passes, so to EVERYONE at Thornlie I love you and God Bless love forever and always

    Amy

  25. “ NO INHERENT, MORAL OR ETHICAL LAWS EXIST, NOR ARE THERE ABSOLUTE GUIDING PRINCIPALS FOR HUMAN SOCIETY. THE UNIVERSE CARES NOTHING FOR US AND WE HAVE NO ULTIMATE MEANING IN LIFE”. William Provine

William B. Provine is an evolutionary professor, who believes their is no God and humans have no meaning for existence. His world views on ethics, philosophy, theology, phycology and biology totally contradicts the christian world view on these topics and the bible.
In the quote by William Provine, ethics, can be found in the first sentence, “No inherent, moral or ethical laws exist, nor are there absolute guiding principals fro human society.” That statement basically means morals are created by man, there is no real right or wrong, man chooses that for himself, or it’s not existent by nature.
His philosophy is that evolution is fact, and in life there are no true right or wrong and that there are no principals from God or any other higher power guiding human society. One would say he believes in the logical.
Mr. Provine’s theology is quite clear, he believes there is no God, and humans have no ultimate meaning in life. If there is no ultimate meaning in life, why did he study to become a professor, he’s not making any sense.
His views on biology, “The universe cares nothing for us and we have no ultimate meaning in life.” This statement shows he’s an evolutionist, because he speaks as if the universe has feelings, like it has its own brain, which shows he’s disbelief in God.
To sum it all up, he believes there are no inherent moral or ethical laws, evolution is a fact, something came from nothing, created a big bang and everything came into being, and humans have no meaning in life.
